Luis was born in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, but raised a pure Texan.  He speaks fluent Spanish and took Latin and Japanese in college.  His lovely wife and two kids moved from the Big T to Vegas just a couple of months before starting at UNSOM.  He is a sci-fi fanatic that enjoys playing electric violin, random trivia, fencing, ancient civilization documentaries, pretty much anything on the history channel, and the clay range.  Sir William Osler, father of modern medicine, said that medicine is learned by the bedside and not in the classroom...so let the real learnin' begin.
