Department of Family Medicine - Las Vegas

Residency

The three-year residency in Family Medicine is fully accredited by the
Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education. It enjoys the full
support of the University Of Nevada School Of Medicine and has been
dedicated to quality education in family health since it's inception in
1989. Faculty possess a broad range of interests and experience and are
dedicated, Board Certified mentors. Residents come from diverse
backgrounds and are committed to life-long learning and outstanding
patient care.

Applicants are only accepted through ERAS. ERAS (tel: 202/828-0413)
opens the first week of September and the program deadline for
applications is December 15, 2007. ERAS will inform you of required
documents (i.e., proof of USMLE/COMLEX scores, Transcripts, Dean's
Letter, Letters of Recommendation/Reference, Personal Statement,
Resume/CV, etc.) No faxed, mailed or emailed (outside) applications will
be considered unless a scramble is necessary.

All applicants must have passed USMLE (or COMLEX) Step I prior to
starting residency. While it is highly preferred that applicants have
passed both the clinical skills and clinical knowledge portions of USMLE
(or COMLEX) Step II prior to starting residency, it is not required,
unless the applicant attended an international medical school. It must
be passed by the end of the internship year. Applicants will not be
considered if they have failed the USMLE or COMLEX boards (individual or
total combined steps) more than 3 times. For further requirements for
obtaining an interview please click on the "Interview Criteria" link on
the left.

Our program year begins July 1st each year and ends June 30th of the
following year. We thank you for your interest and encourage everyone to
apply for our program. The entire ERAS application is reviewed by the
recruitment committee, regardless of the above criteria. All decisions
are at the discretion of the Residency Program Director.

Please Contact Us for additional details or further assistance and
